Product: Iranian Urea for Export

General Introduction

Iranian export urea is one of the country's strategic petrochemical products and the most widely used nitrogenous fertilizer in the world. It is produced in massive petrochemical complexes located in the southern regions, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and abundant natural gas as the primary feedstock. Possessing the world's largest natural gas reserves, Iran holds a premier position in nitrogen fertilizer production and is recognized as a key producer and exporter of urea in the Middle East and global markets. Iranian urea is currently exported to major markets such as India, China, Brazil, Turkey, Central Asian countries, Africa, Latin America, and Europe, playing a vital role in global food security.

Types and Product Specifications

Iranian urea is supplied in two main physical forms, both with the chemical formula CO(NH₂)₂ and containing 46% pure nitrogen:

· Prilled Urea

Small spherical particles with a diameter of 1.6 to 3.2 mm, produced in prilling towers. Suitable for general agricultural use and the production of compound fertilizers. It has good mechanical strength and excellent water solubility.

· Granular Urea:

Harder and larger particles sized 2 to 4.5 mm, produced through a granulation process. High resistance to breakage and moisture, ideal for long-distance sea transport, mechanized spreading on large farms, and bulk blending with other fertilizers.

Available Standards:

Iranian urea is produced and supplied in compliance with the following international standards:

· Iranian National Standard ISIRI 622

· International standards EN 15475 and GOST 2081 (European and CIS markets)

· Standard GB 2440 (China market)

· Destination country standards upon customer request (Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia)

· Technical Grade Urea: With low biuret content (below 1%, and even below 0.8%) for non-agricultural uses such as the production of urea-formaldehyde resins, adhesives, and AdBlue (AUS 32) for heavy-duty diesel vehicles is also available.

Technical Specifications and Quality Assurance

· Nitrogen Content: Minimum 46% by weight (on a dry basis).

· Biuret Content: Maximum 1.0% for standard agricultural grade and below 0.8% for industrial grade (low biuret to prevent phytotoxicity and for sensitive industrial uses).

· Moisture: Maximum 0.5% by weight (guaranteeing no caking and excellent flowability during loading and discharge).

· Particle Size Distribution: Conforming to the prilled or granular type, with a minimum percentage of undersize and oversize particles outside the standard range (typically over 90% within the 2-4 mm range).

· Crushing Strength: Granules possess high mechanical resistance to pressure and abrasion to prevent dust formation during transport.

· Anti-Caking Property: Treatment with anti-caking agents such as formaldehyde or amine compounds to maintain free-flowing properties during long-term storage (upon request).

All export shipments are accompanied by an official Certificate of Analysis from the accredited laboratories of the petrochemical complexes. Third-party inspection by international companies such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek, and Cotecna at the loading origin is accepted. Sampling is conducted during loading according to international standards (ISO/TC 134).

Competitive Advantages of Iranian Export Urea

· Stable and Low-Cost Natural Gas Feedstock: Access to the world's largest gas reserves makes the final production cost of Iranian urea highly competitive and guarantees supply stability throughout the year.

· Massive and Reliable Production Capacity: Iran’s petrochemical complexes (including Pardis, Zagros, Shiraz, Khorasan, Lordegan, and Hengam), with an annual production capacity of several million tons, can handle large and continuous orders.

· Consistent Global Quality: Advanced production technology (Stamicarbon, Snamprogetti, etc.) and strict quality control deliver a product with high nitrogen content, low biuret, and homogeneous particle size, accepted in demanding global markets.

· Flexible Packaging and Logistics: Supply in the form of:

· Bulk: Direct loading into the holds of bulk carriers (Handymax, Supramax, Panamax) at the specialized terminals of Imam Khomeini Port and Pars Port (Assaluyeh).

· Jumbo Bags: 500 kg to 1000 kg bags with an inner polyethylene liner.

· 50 kg Bags: Standard packaging in laminated PP bags with the option of printing the buyer's custom logo.

· Efficient Sea and Land Transportation: Direct and short access to the open waters of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman via the country's largest export terminals. Rail and road loading to CIS countries, Turkey, Iraq, and Afghanistan is also available with a well-equipped fleet.

· Branding Flexibility: Possibility to print the buyer’s specifications and brand on 50 kg bags and jumbo bags for high-tonnage orders (OEM / Private Label).

Applications

Iranian export urea is used in two main sectors: agricultural and industrial.

A) Agriculture (Major Use):

· Direct supply of soil nitrogen for all types of grains (wheat, rice, corn), oilseeds, sugarcane, and cotton.

· Use as foliar spray or mixed with irrigation water (fertigation).

· Main raw material in the production of various liquid and solid compound fertilizers (NPK).

B) Industrial (Growing Use):

· Production of urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins for manufacturing MDF, particleboard, and wood adhesives.

· Preparation of AdBlue / DEF (AUS 32) solution to reduce exhaust emissions from heavy-duty diesel vehicles (Euro 4, 5, and 6 standards).

· Pharmaceutical, cosmetic and personal care industries (moisturizing creams), and livestock and poultry supplements (animal feed as a non-protein nitrogen source).

· Manufacturing of melamine and other chemical derivatives.
